I was the lucky guest of Ben & Natalie at last Friday’s opening of Radical Transformation: Magnum Photos into the Digital Age at the Harry Ransom Center. I was excited by the promise of duck-fat fries, free cocktails, and some schmoozing, but I was not prepared to be blown away by the exhibit, which made me almost completely forgot about the former!
For a little background, “Magnum Photos photographers have produced some of the most memorable images of the last century, shaping history and revolutionizing photography’s influence on modern culture. Founded in 1947, it was the first cooperative agency to be established and operated by photographers, thus ensuring unprecedented creative, editorial, and economic independence” – HRC
I don’t even know what to really say about how entranced I was at the collection. Not only were these photographs beautiful, but they told stories, known and unknown, they opened up new worlds, and showed familiar ones in new lights. All I can say is go, explore, remember, learn, and get inspired! I included a few shots of my favorite photo stories below to give you a little idea of what to expect. So go! Its free!
