I cant believe we are already half way through October! WHOA!
That means that Feliz is fast approaching and as I mentioned before, I am teaching a workshop as part of the weekend long event! Saturday November 3rd I will be teaching a 3 hour Riveted Pendant Workshop at Casa De Luz.
In our small studio behind Schatzelein I don’t currently do any soldering, so utilizing a variety of different cold connections is a must. I just launched my new F12 collection, Giza, full of tube rivets, and thought it would be a great technique to work into a workshop. Although it sounds super technical, I have strutted the class to be really approachable for even a novice.
All of the details for the workshop are below, as well as some images of a few pieces I have done with tube rivets. You can also check out Giza for more examples. The class is limited to only 12 students so reserve your seat today!
In this workshop students will learn the basics of tube riveting and how to rivet bezel cups for setting stones. Each student will texture and shape pre-cut brass and copper components and will layer them together with bezel set semi-precious stones to create a one-of-a-kind pendant necklace. Under my supervision students will have the opportunity to utilize a variety of hand tools including pliers, shears, jewelers saws, hammers, anvils, and flex shafts. Students will not only leave with a one-of-a-kind necklace on brass and copper chain, but with a tube riveting jig for future use. The riveting technique can be applied to leather, wood, metal, fabric, and more.
