As I mentioned in my post about artist Rene Alvarado, his images reminded me of a favorite Italian Renaissance artists, Jacopo Carucci, known simply as Pontormo. I was fortunately enough to study art history and watercolor painting in Tuscany for 6 weeks during my junior year in college. Pontormo is mostly widely known for his depiction of the Deposition of Christ. Unfortuantely many of his later were heavily damaged, and it was the damaged works at the Carthusian monastery of Galluzo outside of Florence that really made an impression on me. So, without going into an Art History lecture, check him out!
