I found artist Jay Mohler today on Etsy and was floored when I started looking closer at his work. The color attracted me immediately, but when I realize the scale and the intricacy I was even more impressed.
Jay started making Ojos de Dios in his “hippie days” in the late 60’s. Initially inspired by an exhibit send by the Dalai Lama, the ojos from Tibet were almost exactly the same as the ojos made by Hucholes in Mexico he had seen previously. Jay has evolved his style to include 12-sided designs as well as 8-sided patterns that he believes encompass patterns of many beliefs from around the world.
Um…. I want one! Luckily, he also sells DIY Kits {although I am skeptical I could recreate anything close}.
