Current Spring Faves

Spring is finally here, which means it's time to say goodbye to chunky sweaters and hello to breezy tops for most of you.  For us here in Austin we never really got into our chunky sweaters! While I tend to keep my wardrobe minimal, this season seems to be all about making a statement. I choose to keep my statements focused on my accessories with bold earrings, colorful glasses, and urban footwear.  Here are some of my favorite things I'll be wearing all season.

  1. tienda ho - super comfy heavy fabric and a classic shape make this my new go-to spring top.
  2. join earring - Spring is all about the gigantic statement earring, and my Join Earring is definitely the new start of the new Level collection.
  3. toms sunglasses - These frames in emerald add just the right pop of color to my generally black white and gray wardrobe.
  4. imogene + willie - I am dying to find a pair of vintage-like military pants like these from imogene + willie.  Unfortunately, these are too short for my 6’ self.
  5. eminence SPF - Trying to pay more attention to my sun exposure and excited to try this translucent on the go SPF.
  6. fit flop - Fun street style with the most comfortable shoes, ever!

Level, Spring 2017

I am thrilled to debut the new Spring 2017 collection, Level.  The Level collection ushers in a return to simple geometry in the form of the rectangle. Hand cut and hammered pieces of bronze and brass are again the stars of this minimal yet striking collection.  From tiny Flush Earring to the artistic asymmetry of the Balance Earring, there is a little something for everyone.

Those of you who follow my designs, know that I pushed myself out of my comfort level with the statement making Join Earring. Measuring a whopping 4" in length, they turned many heads on the streets of New York & Austin!  I know they will do the same for you!

Ringing in the New Year

As the year winds down, I want to take a moment to reflect on all that has happened and look forward to the potential of all that can happen in the upcoming new year.

I do have to say 2016 was an interesting and exciting year for fail!

I was most excited about reaping the rewards of some serious streamlining in the studio over the previous year. All of our hard work definitely paid off and we were able to take out the peaks and valleys of the workload, resulting in a stress level that was at an all-time low for me and my staff. It doesn't get much better than that!

What took me by surprise, even though it shouldn't have, was the willingness of my staff to step up when we were thrown an unexpected curve ball in my busiest month, November.

I’m most thankful that we dodged a bullet with the weather and pulled off the inaugural Origin Designer Market! The overwhelmingly positive feedback from both customers and vendors alike, along with partnering with some bad ass designers made this holiday market a super high note to end the year on.

2017 should prove to be just as, if not more, exciting!

I’m hoping for more time to design and be creative, and to actually have time to act on all of my ideas!

And, I resolve to continue to learn! I could coast for a while with the business and be fine, but I know there are opportunities I will be better prepared to tackle if I continue to study and learn more about myself and my business.

Happy New Year to all of you in the fail family! May 2017 help you realize all your dreams and hopes.
